What Sets HELD Apart: A New Way to Learn, Together

babywearing consultant babywearing educator in-person events news and updates Jun 13, 2025

Last week, we introduced HELDour new one-day, hands-on workshop for babywearing educators and perinatal professionals. But beyond the catchy name and collaborative spirit,

What makes HELD different from any other continuing education event?

This week, we're diving into the why behind HELDwhy we’re centering movement over monologue, cross-disciplinary dialogue over silos, and real-life scenarios over theory alone. Because the truth is: families don’t come to us with neatly labeled problems. They come with questions that cross professional boundaries. HELD was built to give you the tools, support, and community to respond with confidence.

Why HELD?

Because families don’t experience challenges as separate “PT,” “lactation,” or “chiro” problems.

They experience one tangled issue: this isn’t working, and we’re overwhelmed. So HELD brings all of us: babywearing educators, therapists, lactation consultants, and more, to the same table. We’re creating a truly interdisciplinary space to share, practice, and co-create solutions.

Because education should be kinetic.

At HELD, you’ll explore carriers, specific in-arm techniques, feel alignment shifts in your own body, and explore how movement supports development: from the posterior chain in infants to muscle engagement in caregivers. You’ll work with buckle carriers across body types, troubleshoot common resistance patterns, and swap tips for supporting families through motion, positioning, and anticipatory guidance.

Because you need tools you can use tomorrow.

HELD isn’t just about inspiration; it’s about implementation. You’ll leave with practical positioning guidance, personally generated checklists, new techniques to explore with your clients, and a renewed confidence in your own embodied expertise.

Because community matters.

From the night-before mixer to the closing circle, HELD is designed to foster genuine connections. With a max of 30 people, you're guaranteed to have a voice and an opportunity to share. Between labs, you’ll have a chance to connect deeper with your fellows. Afterward, you’ll have access to shared case notes and video snippets from other cities. This is how we build a living, growing knowledge base...together.

Because sustainability isn’t optional.

Each HELD stop is capped to facilitate meaningful interaction. And to minimize our footprint. Attendees are encouraged to connect via our WhatsApp group for carpools and hotel shares. Any handouts are digital. And if flying is your only option? Apply to host a future HELD in your region—we’ll bring the knowledge to you, not the emissions.

HELD isn’t just another box to check for continuing ed. It’s a reimagining of how we learn, how we teach, and how we show up for the families we serve. From practical skills to professional collaboration and shared sustainability goals, HELD exists to move our field forward...together.

Next week, we’ll walk you through what we plan to happen during a HELD immersion: from buckle carrier labs to in-arm carry tweaks, and how it all adds up to education your clients will feel in their body.

Until then, keep your demo doll close (and get that name tag ready).
