One Size Doesn't Fit All (and that’s okay)

If you’ve tried babywearing and thought, “This just isn’t working for me,” you might not be wrong.
But it’s probably the carrier that needs to be changed, not the practice.
Not every carrier works for every body, every baby, or every season of parenting. Just like you wouldn’t expect the same pair of shoes to fit every person’s feet and lifestyle, different carriers will shine for different purposes. Some carriers are perfect for tiny newborns, while others really hit their stride once your baby is a little bigger. Some are better for quick ups and downs; others are ideal for long walks or sleepy snuggles. What works great for your friend might drive you bananas, and that’s normal.
Exploring different carrier styles - wraps, ring slings, meh dais, soft structured carriers, and more - can open up new possibilities. Sometimes just switching from a buckled carrier to a woven wrap (or vice versa!) makes everything click.
Finding your perfect carrier or combo of carriers is part of the babywearing journey. You don’t need to become a carrier collector, but discovering what feels best for you and your baby, right now, matters.
So if something doesn’t feel quite right, don’t give up. Try again. Try something new. Reach out for support. A babywearing educator can help you explore options that match your body, your baby’s stage, and your lifestyle.
