A Decade of Gratitude: Reflecting on 10 Years of Online Connection, Community, and Carrying

As we head into this season of gratitude, our hearts are full.
This week marks not only the close of our final Foundations cohort of 2025, but also a milestone we can hardly believe: ten years since Joanna offered her very first online training back in 2015 - only 4 years after starting CBWS!
10 years online.
69 cohorts.
Hundreds upon hundreds of incredible students.
Every year, we’re amazed by how far our graduates go. Some have built thriving consulting practices, others have gone on to work with hospital staff, doulas, and physical therapists. Many are leading their own robust babywearing communities. In contrast, others quietly support new parents in their neighborhoods, through a sling library, during Le Leche League meetings, at their church, and even at their workplaces. They remind us that small, local work can have far-reaching ripple effects.
And from this year’s cohorts, we’ve been lucky to receive reflections that remind us why this work matters:

Every single student, from the very first to the most recent, has helped shape what CBWS is today. You’ve shared your questions, your stories, your “aha” moments, and your courage to do this work differently: with empathy, curiosity, and deep respect for the families you serve.
We’re endlessly thankful for the community we’ve built together.
Looking Back… and Looking Ahead
This 10-year online anniversary has made us nostalgic… and more than a little inspired.
We remember that in-person training was immediately inspiring, and that's why Joanna continued to do them until 2018. However, that left people in a vacuum to figure out their next steps, continue their education, and find a community of supportive, like-minded peers. Joanna realized early that consultants needed and wanted more. And she moved forward to create what could fill that need.
Those early online courses weren't babywearing-focused (that didn't come for a few more years), but instead served as supplemental material. As we looked back through our archives and at those early course materials, we’ve found some real gems: trainings and resources that feel just as relevant today as when they were first created.
Let’s just say… we have some exciting things planned for 2026.
