One More Minute Can Make All the Difference

babywearing for caregivers Nov 13, 2025

I know, you got the carrier mostly on and you’re tempted to just roll with it. When you’ve finally gotten your baby on your body and you're juggling a to-do list, it’s tempting to skip that last adjustment and just go.

But mostly done isn’t done - and that last minute of checking in with yourself, your baby, and your carrier fit can make ALL the difference in comfort and safety.

Forget complicated checklists: tune into what you and your baby are feeling. Your instincts matter. If something feels off, pause and adjust. Your baby needs you to be present and attuned. When your body feels supported and your baby feels secure, you’ll both enjoy babywearing so much more.

Start with you:
  • Are your shoulders relaxed?
  • Anything digging in or pulling?
  • Do you feel balanced, or like you’re leaning to compensate for discomfort somewhere?
Now check in with baby:
  • Are they snug and supported, not slumping or twisting?
  • Do they seem relaxed? Breathing easily?
  • Are their legs and arms in a natural, neutral position?
And finally:
  • Can you see their face?
  • Can you easily smell that sweet baby head?
  • Does the whole setup feel like it’s working?

Trust your gut. If something feels off, it probably is, and a quick adjustment can make all the difference.
