What Are You Overlooking with Clients & Baby Carriers?

There are 24 hours in a day, and most people use a baby carrier sporadically at best.

So, how do they move the baby the rest of the time? After all,

A baby will be held.
A baby will be moved.
A baby will be fed, diapered, played with, put down to sleep…

All of these actions impact both the caregiver's body and the baby’s.

What if we’re sitting on the most obvious ways we could assist families—ways that improve infant development and help prevent injuries to caregivers?

The number of people who show up to their doctor and then to the therapist with hand, wrist, arm, and back injuries from infant care is unacceptable.

By that time, introducing a baby carrier is often too little, too late. These healthcare professionals frequently lack the time, energy, and in-depth knowledge to choose the appropriate carrier and then instruct their patients on its use, while also assisting them in recovering from an injury.

We do, though. As babywearing educators and consultants, we have the time, energy, and in-depth knowledge to help find the right carrier for their unique needs.

Then, the therapists can focus on the caregiver’s recovery.

We can learn to move infants in a caregiver- and baby-friendly approach while also introducing baby carriers and focusing on preventing injury from the start.

In our communities, we can serve as a bridge for professionals working with caregivers or infants by teaching carrying methods (in-arm and carrier-based) that prioritize injury prevention from the beginning.

So, you see, HELD is more than a one-day workshop. It’s an intentional expansion of what babywearing... and what you can do to help prevent injury and support infant development.

By bringing together perinatal professionals, babywearing educators, consultants, and enthusiasts, we can focus on biomechanics, functional movement, nervous system support, and clinical integration — aiming to create holistic support for families in your community.

Since HELD is about hands-on work, space is naturally limited. If HELD is calling you, now’s the time.
