Mid-Year Freak Out? Here’s How to Carry On


One minute it’s January and you’re setting intentions with a cup of tea and a brand-new planner.
Next thing you know, it’s July, your planner is MIA, your wrap stash is in wild disarray, and someone just asked if you “still do that baby carrier thing.”

If you’re somewhere betweenI forgot what my yearly goals even were” and “I should start a whole new career instead,” this one’s for you.

This is your official permission slip to freak out a little… and then keep going.


1. Your progress isn’t behind. It’s just… nonlinear.

Building a babywearing practice isn’t a straight line. Some seasons are full of consults, referrals, energy, and ideas. Others...just crickets and second-guessing.

It doesn’t mean you’re failing. It means you’re human.

It means your business is a living, breathing thing—growing and shifting just like the families you serve.

Try this:

  • Audit your last 6 months: What did you do? Even the small things count (attended a training, helped one family, posted a tip online). Make a list.
  • Celebrate any impact: Did someone tell you you made babywearing “click” for them? That counts.
  • Normalize slow seasons: Use the lull to tweak systems, update materials, or rest.

2. You don’t need to “catch up” ... you need a reset.

Your January vision might not fit your July reality—and that’s okay.
Instead of asking “How do I get back on track?” try:

  • What still matters to me?
  • What can I let go of?
  • What’s one small thing I can move forward this month?

3. Reinvention is allowed...and so is recommitment.

You’re not stuck with the plans you made in January. Maybe you wanted to launch a group class, and now that idea makes you cringe. Or maybe you had no idea what you wanted then, but you’ve gained clarity now. 

Your work can shift with you. That’s not failure -- it’s evolution.

Your time and energy deserve direction.

Take a moment to check in. What matters now? What’s realistic with your current life, family, or bandwidth? What would feel good to move toward?

Then get specific. Choose or set a goal that fits your current season -- and give yourself a way to check in on it. Baby steps are great. Just make sure they’re pointed somewhere you actually want to go.

4. Check in, don’t check out.

If you’ve been hiding from your goals, this is your gentle nudge to peek out. Revisit your notes. Come to Community Hours. Text a peer who gets it. Share what’s working and what’s not.

We’re not meant to do this alone — and the next step always feels easier when someone’s carrying it with you.

5. Celebrate the messy middle.

This isn’t the part where everything is shiny and figured out—and that’s okay. You’re still showing up for babies, caregivers, and your values. That matters more than perfection.

You can feel stuck and still take a step. You can feel unsure and still show up.

Try this:

  • Create a “done” list instead of a to-do list once a week.
  • Set micro-goals like “post one tip this week” or “reach out to one past client.”
  • Reflect: What are you proud of since January? Write it down. Share it with a friend.

You’ve got this. And we’ve got you. 

Whether you're flying high or feeling stuck in the summer fog, this is your reminder that your work matters -- even (especially) in the messy middle.
