Honoring Black Babywearing Week and Juneteenth

babywearing Jun 17, 2025

Black Babywearing Week (June 15–21) arrives alongside Juneteenth, offering a timely moment to honor Black women’s historic and ongoing influence on baby-carrying practices.

Created in 2018, the week was designed by Black parents, educators, and advocates to celebrate and call for representation within the wider babywearing community and industry. The overlap is no coincidence; both observances shine a light on perseverance, community care, and cultural contributions.

We won’t pretend to speak for Black families, but we approach this moment with humility and respect. Our role is to elevate and highlight existing voices, not replace them. At CBWS, openness shapes everything we do. For us, this means listening first. Throughout the week, we’ll repost reels, stories, and posts by Black babywearers and consultants. No filters, no commentary—just their words in their own voices.

Looking to support beyond a “like”? Here are three simple actions:

  •  Support Black-owned businesses the next time you need anything, including a carrier, wrap, or sling.
  •  Share creators’ work with attribution, helping them reach new audiences.
  •  Keep learning after June 21st, so visibility isn’t a one-week event.

Babywearing thrives on shared wisdom. By widening the circle, every caregiver wins. We invite you to follow along, engage, and keep these connections alive well past this celebratory week.

We hope you’ll explore, share, and maybe discover a few new favorite voices along the way.

Happy Black Babywearing Week—and a meaningful Juneteenth to all.
