Caregiver Check In with Your Pelvic Floor, Too
Mar 19, 2026
Babywearing can feel amazing, but it also adds weight and pressure to a body that may still be healing and adapting, especially if you are recently postpartum.
That doesn’t mean babywearing is a bad idea. It just means it’s worth paying attention to how it feels.
As you move through your day, check in:
- Do you feel heaviness or pressure in your pelvis?
- Leaking?
- Lower back, hip, or pelvic pain?
- Like you’re bracing, clenching, or holding your breath to manage?
These symptoms aren’t something to ignore or push through! They’re information you can use to explore changes that might be helpful.
Maybe short walks feel great, but stairs, bending, or longer stretches of wearing bring symptoms up. That’s okay - your body is giving you useful feedback.
Try adjusting your carrier, changing the activity, shortening the session, or taking a break. And if something keeps feeling off, get support.

A pelvic floor PT can help you understand what your body needs, and a babywearing educator can help you explore fit, positioning, and carrier options that may feel better.
You don’t have to choose between babywearing and caring for your body.
Both matter.
