Ponnie isn’t just a Babywearing consultant; she's also a fitness professional and leading the North American branch of Kangatraining. It isn't your average workout program; it's designed with new moms in mind, and Ponnie is on the lookout for folks interested in becoming Kangatraining Instructors. With the birth of my first child, it became so evident to me how little we support all aspects of birthing caregivers and especially in the fitness world.

I was leaving a baby music class when I saw a mommy and me fitness class in progress. I remember thinking “Strollers? Parked inside the gym? My kid would definitely not hang out for an hour like that! Why are there no high intensity, low impact Babywearing classes?” The other thing that really struck me as I watched longing to workout again was that some of the exercises the group was being instructed really don’t feel good just a couple months post birth.

At the point I had over 15 years experience in women’s health so I set out to create a well rounded program that supported the participants' mental and physical health. I took my CBWS training so I could incorporate better Babywearing practices in 2019. As I was doing market research to create my info pack to try to recruit a pelvic floor physio, I came across Kangatraining. It was exactly what I was hoping to create. I reached out to the founder to seek opportunities to bring this workout to North America and after many phone calls, zooms and a trip to Europe, I took on the role of Countryleader for Canada and the USA.
