Introducing HELD: A New Kind of Workshop for a New Kind of Babywearing Professional
Jun 03, 2025
What if your next continuing education event didn’t involve a single slide deck?
This fall, the Center for Babywearing Studies is launching HELD—a hands-on, one-day workshop for professionals who support infant carrying in all its forms. From PTs and OTs to lactation consultants, chiropractors, doulas, and babywearing educators, HELD is designed to gather people across disciplines to deepen our shared knowledge, sharpen our real-world skills, and strengthen the network of care around the families we serve.
HELD isn’t a conference.
There’s no keynote. No name-badge hierarchy. No hotel ballroom full of rows and passive listening.
Instead, imagine this:
You show up with your weighted demo doll (dressed and name-tagged, of course), roll up your sleeves, and dive straight into:
- In-arm carrying techniques that support muscle development and parent ergonomics
- Carrier labs that troubleshoot real-world challenges on real bodies
- Collaborative discussion with professionals outside your own silo
- Live movement-based labs to translate theory into muscle memory
Whether you’re working with families facing latch issues, torticollis, sensory overwhelm, or just plain “this carrier feels weird,” HELD is here to move the conversation forward—literally.
