Babywearing Voices: Jordan Morillo
Jul 28, 2025
Jordan Morillo, known as "The Babywearing OT," began her journey with babywearing when her son was in the NICU at just four days old, and it quickly became an essential part of her own parenting journey. Reflecting on this period, she shared, "I was babywearing my son and helping some of my maternal health OT clients with babywearing. I realized I loved that aspect of my job but needed more specialized training to best help them." This realization led her to enroll in the Foundations course with CBWS when her son was around 8 months old.
One of the most surprising aspects of the Foundations training for Jordan was how closely Joanna's teaching style mirrored the skilled activity analysis she learned as an occupational therapist.
"The way she breaks down the steps to learning and teaching carriers made me feel like I was back in grad school," she explained.
Since completing her training, Jordan has restructured her business, expanding and niching down in her client caseload. Babywearing consultations are now a significant part of her practice, and she integrates babywearing into all her home visits, classes, and community offerings.
Currently, Jordan is actively engaged in the babywearing world, offering one-on-one client consultations through home visits and virtual sessions. She particularly enjoys assisting families with adaptive babywearing needs and offering consulting services for new carrier prototypes. She is also contracted with several babywearing brands such as hope&plum, Beluga Baby, Aloha & Light, LoveHeld, and Gojiberry, providing virtual fit checks to their customers. She has served over 750 clients so far in 2025.
Reflecting on her training, Jordan wishes she had known just how transformative it would be. Despite her background in healthcare, she was amazed by the wealth of knowledge she gained.
"It’s such an incredible class, and I think no matter what level of experience you have, it will make a big difference in how you understand and teach babywearing," she emphasized.
"Foundations changed my life, as cliché as that sounds to say," Jordan shares. "I’m so happy to be doing the work that I am, and CBWS was a big part of that."
Jordan's passion for babywearing and working with families continues to drive her. She loves babywearing for the positive impact it had on her life as a new mom and continues to have as a toddler mom. Helping families experience the benefits of babywearing brings her immense satisfaction, especially when she witnesses the moment it "clicks" for a parent and baby duo. "It’s such an amazing moment," she shared.
Her advice to all families is simple yet profound: "If you desire to wear your baby, you should, and you can. Even if you feel they always fuss, or your carrier doesn’t feel right, or you feel overwhelmed on how to make it happen. That’s what babywearing consultants are here for."
"You don’t have to give up on it when it doesn’t go well if your gut feeling is that you still wish you could. You deserve to babywear and feel amazing doing it, and your child deserves that too," she says.
