FOUNDATIONS IN BABYWEARING EDUCATION

My live sessions are the 'gold' of the course and are my students’ favorite part of the class.

It's unprecedented to have this much live-interactive time in an online course! We will meet live for 28-34+ hours! 

These live hours are an interactive, hands-on, thought-provoking opportunity to connect with others in the class, ask questions, and have rich discussions. 

The live sessions are virtual but in-person class time. There are two different enrollment options to suit your schedule. Each class follows a unique schedule so you want to check before signing up to make sure you can make all the live session. 

During these sessions, we dig into practical techniques of carrying and teaching with an emphasis on how to integrate the course material into your current work. You will have time to practice teaching others. Plus, time to discuss the lectures, ask your questions and find your voice around this in-depth and information-rich material.  

Pre-Recorded Videos

The pre-recorded sessions are released every week as you move through the class. In these sessions, lecture material is delivered in keynote-style videos. Overall, there are over 12 hours of recorded video to watch at your convenience over a three-week period. Videos have slides, transcripts, and worksheets, so you can easily integrate the material into your life and work regardless of your learning style.  

Additional learning

Time practicing the material you learn, either alone or with a partner, will help you commit the material to memory and make it automatic. This will be useful not only in your practice later on, but in completing the skills assessment at the end of the course. 

There is both a written and a live skills assessment at the close of the six week course. You will sign up for the skills assessment during your live training. Successful completion of these assessments are a requirement for a course certificate and also a prerequisite for our CBWS Babywearing Certification. 

There are optional bonus sessions available for you to practice skills with your classmates prior to your test. You can sign up for these practice opportunities during the live sessions.

2. Workbook-style copy of the slides for recorded videos
3. Implementation note sheets for recorded videos
4. Logbook for tracking your consultations and classes
5. Detailed agenda of weekly and live sessions

Other tools you will need prior to starting the course

This course is a hands-on course requiring you to have a few carriers as well as a 6-8 pound weighted doll available for each live session and practice throughout the week. 

Please obtain the following items prior to the start of our course. 

Contact us to purchase a professionally-weighted doll directly from us. Prices range from $120-$140.

There are also many tutorials to help you make your own weighted doll from a baby doll or stuffed animal. Here is one such tutorial, or you can google "DIY weighted doll" to find others. 

NOTE: As a baby carrying consultant, you will find these tools useful to own. However, if you don’t wish to purchase them at this time, you may be able to borrow them from a local babywearing group or another babywearing educator. There are also a variety of tutorials available online that can help you create your own versions of these carriers, if you prefer to sew them yourself. 

Please obtain the following baby carriers prior to the start of our course. 

We recommend that you have one of each of the following styles of carrier. If it is feasible, you will find it helpful to have more than one brand of each. Some carriers have a wide variety of features and styles between brands, especially soft structured carriers.
